Alexander Isak was outstanding in the opening minutes, scoring twice before the ten-minute mark. In the fifth minute, Cody Gakpo passed to Isak, who powerfully beat Kjell Scherpen. Just three minutes later, Gakpo brought the ball back to Isak with a precise outside-foot pass that the Swedish striker finished perfectly past the goalkeeper.
Liverpool dominated key moments of the match and thought they had added a third in the first half through Isak, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
